Bahram Sarmast, the governor of East Azerbaijan, emphasized the need to strengthen inter-sectoral cooperation for managing energy imbalance during the optimal energy consumption management working group. He called for serious planning in the area of cultural promotion and education for optimal energy consumption. Sarmast referred to the increase in gas imbalance compared to last year and stated that this issue arose due to American-Zionist attacks on the country's southern refineries during the imposed war.

The necessity of providing secondary fuel for industries

The governor of East Azerbaijan emphasized that the responsible agencies in the province must strive to provide secondary fuel for industries and various economic sectors, adding: "The province's production should not be harmed by fuel and energy shortages." He also deemed it essential for the responsible agencies at the national level to pursue increasing the quota of secondary fuel for industries and called for more advocacy and follow-ups to secure the necessary fuel for industrial units.

Energy consumption management in winter

Sarmast considered the priority for gas supply to be for households and emphasized the necessity of saving and managing gas consumption. He stated: "Alongside providing household energy, maximum savings and management of gas consumption must be considered so that all sectors can benefit from this energy." He identified the food industries, pharmaceutical industries, greenhouses, and the agricultural sector as priorities for gas supply and stressed that the efforts of the people and officials for optimal energy consumption should be such that the province's production sector and consequently the livelihood of the people do not face problems.

Sarmast also emphasized the necessity of maximum savings in government and public agencies and called for the appointment of an energy manager in each agency to follow up and manage consumption. He noted that energy savings will be one of the important and impactful indicators in evaluating the performance of the province's managers this year.
