Zarei, the representative of the people of Abadeh, Bavanat, Khorrambid, and Sarchahan in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, recently emphasized the importance of energy consumption management at a macro and national level. He stated that the responsibilities of governmental institutions in this regard must be given as much attention as the consumption of the public.

The Necessity of Action in Governmental Institutions

Zarei pointed out that in many cases, criticisms are focused on public consumption, stating that these criticisms should also include governmental and authoritative institutions. He added that in managing energy consumption, serious action must be taken against negligence at every level; whether in government agencies, among high-consumption subscribers, or in areas such as cryptocurrency mining, which have significant energy consumption.

He also noted that society expects governmental institutions to lead in energy consumption so that the public can also take steps towards conservation. Zarei emphasized: "We cannot expect the public to reduce consumption while appropriate consumption patterns are not observed in buildings and administrative complexes."

Practical Actions for Conservation

Zarei referred to the need for installing and operating solar panels, using low-consumption equipment, and improving heating and cooling systems in government buildings. These actions can help set an example for other sectors of society and lead to a reduction in energy consumption in the country.

According to Zarei, water consumption management must also be viewed with a comprehensive and national perspective. He stated that drinking water accounts for less than 10 percent of the country's water consumption, emphasizing that 80 percent of water consumption is related to the agricultural sector. He called for reforming water consumption patterns in agriculture and utilizing modern and mechanized technologies in this sector.

Zarei also pointed to the necessity of developing modern and mechanized agriculture and using new irrigation methods, stating that this requires an executive program, securing financial resources, and continuous monitoring of water resource consumption.

Attention to Public Transportation and Low-Consumption Vehicles

The representative of the Assembly further referred to the role of public transportation in reducing energy and gasoline consumption and called for serious attention from officials to this issue. He emphasized that alongside the rising price of gasoline and the reduction of its quotas, attention must also be given to the quality and consumption levels of vehicles provided to the public.

Zarei mentioned the public's complaints about the quality of domestic vehicles, stating that passenger cars have high fuel consumption compared to global standards. He also expressed concern about the aging public transportation fleet and trucks, stating that this significantly contributes to increased fuel consumption.

In conclusion, Zarei emphasized that fuel consumption management must undergo necessary reforms simultaneously on both the production and consumption sides to achieve a sustainable outcome in the country's energy management.
