Nexans has signed a cable supply contract for the international power connection project between Korinthos and Kous in Greece. This project is designed to enhance the connection of the Dodecanese islands to the mainland of Greece.

Project Details

This contract has been awarded to Hellenic Cables, which will collaborate with Asso.subsea to supply the 110 kV cable system for this project. The project, designed as a HVDC connection with a capacity of 1 gigawatt and a voltage of 320 kV, includes approximately 1260 kilometers of underwater cable and 30 kilometers of land cable.

Nexans will supply 420 kilometers of the 110 kV cable system for this project. Activities related to this project have begun, including cable production in Nexans' production lines and seabed surveys. These efforts will facilitate the use of production lines by the end of this year, throughout 2027, and until mid-2028.

Implications of This Project

This project reflects the growing need for high-voltage power transmission infrastructure to connect different regions and strengthen power networks. Pascal Radue, Executive Vice President of PWR-Transmission at Nexans, noted that this project will not only support Greece's power infrastructure but will also bring significant activities to the company's manufacturing operations, reinforcing Nexans' leadership in the high-voltage power transmission market.

Given the importance of this project in improving Greece's electrical infrastructure and strengthening power networks, Nexans has emerged as a key player in this sector and will continue to contribute to the sustainable development of these infrastructures.
