Saeed Zaghari, spokesperson for the Anti-Smuggling Headquarters, announced that with the implementation of the 24-article directive for the prevention and confrontation of fuel smuggling, the daily volume of fuel smuggling has decreased from 21 million liters to zero. This statistic indicates the success of the headquarters in reducing smuggling and its associated costs.
Preventive Tools and Smart Technology
Zaghari stated that the headquarters is seeking to create smart systems in all organizations and ministries as part of preventive and software management. These systems help consolidate information and analyze import and export processes to proactively combat smuggling by identifying smuggling gaps.

According to existing statistics, fuel smuggling in the year 1402 was about 21 million liters daily and 8 billion dollars annually, which accounted for about one-third of the country's dollar volume of smuggling. Zaghari further added that with the implementation of the emergency card management plan in border and domestic provinces, about four million liters of fuel savings are achieved daily.
Social and Economic Impacts
Zaghari referred to public satisfaction with the implemented plans and said: In Kerman province, where long queues for fuel previously existed, now a satisfaction rate of about 80 to 88 percent has been recorded among the people. With the elimination of emergency cards and an increase in the fuel quota to 50 liters per person, people have been able to easily access fuel.
He also pointed out the reasons for fuel smuggling, stating that the price difference of fuel in the country compared to neighboring countries is one of the main reasons for the inclination towards smuggling. For example, diesel is sold in Iran for 300 tomans per liter, while in deep Pakistan, its price can reach up to 280 thousand tomans.
Zaghari believes that merely adjusting fuel prices is not the only solution and that consumption modeling among the people needs to be improved. This issue can lead to a reduction in the inclination towards smuggling and strengthen domestic production.
In conclusion, Zaghari emphasized that the headquarters' approach to combating smuggling is preventive and utilizes modern technologies. He referred to national determination and public cooperation as prerequisites for combating smuggling, noting that wherever the people have stepped up, positive results have been achieved.
