Power plants have demonstrated their readiness for the cold months of the year with adequate liquid fuel storage. This issue has gained more importance as four major gas refineries in the country have been damaged, and about 230 million cubic meters of the country's gas production capacity has been taken offline.

Fuel Supply Status for Power Plants

The Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy described the stability of the network and energy balance, announcing the readiness of liquid fuel reserves to compensate for the 130 million cubic meters drop in gas supplied to power plants. He emphasized that liquid fuel storage has been carried out at a desirable level, and at the same time, due to the gas shortage, power plants are compelled to rely heavily on alternative fuel to maintain production stability.

Maintenance Plans and Readiness of Power Plants

Masoud Moradi, Deputy of Production Management at the Thermal Power Company, announced that power plants have continuously been in production over the past months, and since last week, with the drop in temperature, maintenance permits have been issued for some units. Currently, maintenance on nearly 1,000 megawatts of thermal power plants has begun, and efforts are being made to intensify the maintenance program by May so that power plants are fully prepared for the peak of next summer's production.

Moradi also referred to the forecast of 115,000 megawatts of maintenance, which includes major repairs of steam and gas units as well as periodic inspections. According to him, for units that require long-term repairs, about 1,000 megawatts have been removed from the maintenance program, and this section includes large steam units.

Liquid Fuel Reserves Status

The Deputy of Production Management at the Thermal Power Company continued to address the fuel supply situation, stating: "The issue of fuel supply is a general discussion, and the fuel basket of power plants is determined based on gas and diesel." He added that 80 percent of the diesel tanks at power plants are full, and mazut tanks are about 70 percent complete. Moradi emphasized that with the planning done, the goal is to face the least problems and risks and to avoid outages due to fuel supply issues.

Moradi noted that with the joint planning between the two ministries, he hopes that the cold season will pass without significant issues. In this regard, efforts to supply fuel and maintain the stability of the electricity network are of special importance.
