Gas production in Iran has reached new records with the implementation of development projects and the entry of new wells into operation. In winter 2025, the daily production of raw gas in the South Pars joint field reached 730 million cubic meters, indicating growth in production capacity and optimal resource management.

Upward Trend in Gas Production

Given the increased demand in the winter season, raw gas production in Iran has increased by 35 million cubic meters per day compared to last winter. In Bahman 2025, daily raw gas production set a new record, exceeding last year's record by about 16 million cubic meters. This increase is not just a number but a continuous trend over recent years.

Development of Gas Fields and Maintaining Production Capacity

Optimal management and development of gas fields, including the South Pars field, have contributed to increased gas extraction. In Azar 2025, the daily production of raw gas from this field reached 729.6 million cubic meters, and on 28 Bahman of the same year, a historical production record was broken. The entry of seven new wells into operation, with a total capacity of 15 million cubic meters per day, has played a significant role in this growth.

Additionally, in the Day gas field, the entry of three new wells added three million cubic meters to the country's gas production daily. This production increase, along with successful gas storage in the Sarajeh and Shourijeh reservoirs, which reached a historical record of three billion and 160 million cubic meters, demonstrates readiness to meet energy needs during the cold season.

However, challenges also exist. An attack on four South Pars refineries in Esfand 2025 took about 230 million cubic meters of South Pars gas production capacity offline. Nevertheless, efforts to rebuild and restore damaged capacities to operation are of special importance. It is expected that about 100 million cubic meters of this capacity will return to production before the onset of the cold days of the year.
