Mostafa Rajabi-Mashhadi, the Deputy Minister of Power and Energy, announced during a visit to the Shiraz Power Distribution Company that the electricity imbalance this year has decreased by about 30 percent compared to last year, and since the beginning of the government's activities, the electricity imbalance has decreased to about 50 percent.
Factors Affecting the Reduction of Electricity Imbalance
Rajabi-Mashhadi mentioned the development of new power plants, increasing the capacity of solar power plants, and managing consumption as some of the effective factors in reducing electricity imbalance, emphasizing the importance of utilizing new capacities for sustainable energy supply.

Increased Electricity Supply to Industries
He also referred to the electricity supply situation for industries this year, stating that despite existing limitations, more capacity has been provided for the industrial sector. The amount of energy supplied to energy-intensive industries such as steel and cement has increased by 14 percent compared to last year.
The electricity supplied to petrochemical industries has also seen a significant increase compared to last year, aimed at helping maintain production and the operation of industrial units.
New Mechanisms for Supplying Electricity to Large Industries
The Deputy Minister of Power and Energy announced the establishment of new mechanisms for supplying electricity needed by large industries through imports, adding that with the removal of some structural barriers and the possibility of electricity transit from the national grid, large industries, especially petrochemical units that have lost part of their electricity production capacity, can directly import electricity from neighboring countries using their foreign currency resources.
He also pointed out the damage to some self-sufficient power plants of industries and petrochemicals, noting that about 4,700 megawatts of capacity from these power plants have been taken offline for various reasons.
Development of Renewable Power Plants
Rajabi-Mashhadi emphasized the importance of developing new electricity production capacities and announced that planning for increasing the capacity of solar power plants and constructing new power plants by industries and the Ministry of Power is on the agenda.
He also mentioned regional cooperation in the electricity sector, referring to contracts with Turkmenistan and Armenia for electricity supply and the provision of opportunities for the private sector to utilize the capacity for importing electricity from neighboring countries.
