LNG Canada has signed an engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services contract worth over €200 million with Técnicas Reunidas. This four-year contract is aimed at the second phase of the Coastal GasLink (CGL) project in British Columbia, western Canada, and will deepen collaborations that began from the early stages of advanced engineering design (FEED).
Contract Details and Roles
The second phase of CGL will be executed as an integrated delivery model, with LNG Canada acting as the project executive responsible for construction, while Técnicas Reunidas will provide EPCM services. Meanwhile, CGL will remain the owner, operator, and licensee of the pipeline and related facilities.

This contract comes as LNG Canada recently announced its final investment decision (FID) to advance the next phase of this important national project. The project includes the construction of five additional compressor stations and modifications to existing and planned facilities along various points of the pipeline route.
Implications and Future Outlook
Técnicas Reunidas' scope of services includes detailed engineering, procurement, and construction management, and the project is expected to be executed over more than four years. This contract represents a significant milestone in strengthening the service business of the company and adds to its extensive experience in midstream projects, which includes 30,000 kilometers of oil and gas pipelines and over 35 major compressor projects globally.
This contract clearly reinforces Técnicas Reunidas' commitment to the North American market, which is considered one of the pillars of the company's strategic SALTA program. The company has currently identified approximately €28 billion in potential projects in the North American market, a significant portion of which includes nearly a dozen large combined cycle power plants, primarily designed to meet the high energy demands arising from the development of large data centers in the region.
