Iranian forces attacked an American contractor ship near the Strait of Hormuz last week. The attack was carried out using four drones and one or more missiles, resulting in injuries to some individuals on board the ship.

Details of the Attack

One of the missiles struck the ship, causing minor injuries to some of the personnel on board. These individuals are currently receiving medical care in one of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. This attack is part of the escalating tensions between Iran and the United States in the region.

Impacts and Consequences

According to the Pentagon's internal database, more than 800 American military personnel have been injured in the ongoing conflicts with Iran, and 18 have lost their lives. Additionally, Iran has also attacked U.S. maritime assets in the Central Command. A Pentagon spokesperson stated that U.S. military forces destroyed two small Iranian boats that were attempting to seize an American unmanned vessel.

Iran also showcased a submarine named Anduril Dive-LD last week, which it had publicly displayed. Meanwhile, in 2022, Iranian forces attempted twice to steal a military surveillance ship, Saildrone.

Damage to U.S. Military Infrastructure

The damage to U.S. military infrastructure in the Middle East has received significant attention. Military reports from various locations, including the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, indicate that American military bases have been subjected to repeated attacks by Iranian forces, with several of these bases, including the Fifth Fleet headquarters in Manama, being targeted. Despite high costs for air defense systems, hundreds of locations and nearly 20 aircraft have been damaged or destroyed.

An American military official told the media that these damages have severely impacted our military infrastructure, and this issue has not been fully communicated to the American public. He also noted that analyses regarding the reconstruction of bases are underway, while some officials are considering whether it would be better to relocate to more defensible locations outside the Gulf.
