HHI Develops 35,000 Cubic Meter LPG/Ammonia Carrier

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI) has successfully developed a 35,000 cubic meter LPG/ammonia carrier. This ship has been designed to meet various requirements at major terminals, including those in Japan, and has received an Approval in Principle (AiP) from ClassNK.

Approval in Principle and Design Requirements

ClassNK, the organization responsible for overseeing safety and maritime standards, has reviewed the design of this ship and issued an Approval in Principle after confirming compliance with the specified requirements. This approval was granted to HHI at a ceremony held during the Gastech 2026 exhibition in Bangkok, Thailand.

This ship is designed to comply with various regulations at major terminals, especially in Japan. ClassNK conducted this review based on the "Rules and Guidelines for the Inspection and Construction of Steel Ships," which includes the IGC Code, an international code for the construction and equipment of ships carrying liquefied gases in bulk.
