EnerMech, a UK-based oilfield services company, has secured a pre-commissioning services contract from Chevron for the Aseng gas development off the coast of Papua New Guinea. The contract involves the preparation of approximately 19 kilometers of rigid production pipeline that connects the Aseng field to existing offshore infrastructure.
Details of the EnerMech Contract
EnerMech will be responsible for providing pre-operational engineering, project management, and specialized pre-commissioning pipeline services. The management of this project will be conducted from the company's headquarters in Houston. This contract is part of Chevron's larger project aimed at tapping into Papua New Guinea's offshore gas resources, which includes a single-well subsea tie-back connecting the Aseng field to the existing Alen platform at a water depth of approximately 800 meters.

Economic and Export Impacts
Chemical has made the final investment decision for the development of this project earlier this year and is expected to help maintain Papua New Guinea's LNG exports to global markets until the mid-2030s. This move aligns with Chevron's efforts to commercialize Papua New Guinea's offshore gas resources and future developments around the Alen and Yoyo-Yolanda fields.
This project also includes a separate contract awarded to Subsea 7 valued between $150 million and $300 million. The scope of this contract includes the transportation and installation of 19 kilometers of rigid pipeline, approximately 20 kilometers of subsea cables, subsea structures, and related tie-ins. The recent EnerMech contract includes the specialized work necessary to prepare the pipeline infrastructure for operations.
