The Australian engineering company Worley has recently signed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) development project in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. This contract will assist in the development of LNG export facilities in the area as part of Venture Global's CP2 Expansion project.
Details of the CP2 Expansion Project
The signing of this EPC contract continues Worley's previous collaborations on this project, where it provided initial engineering services under a master services agreement. Venture Global aims to make a final investment decision for this project in early 2027. Worley is currently also providing EPC services for phases 1 and 2 of the LNG development.
Infrastructure Related to the Project
This project includes a large LNG export facility in Cameron Parish, which will be built on a site of approximately 1,150 acres. The proposed CP Express pipeline will start from Jasper and Newton counties in Texas and will terminate at the CP2 LNG facilities in Cameron Parish, where natural gas will be fed into the LNG facilities. The associated marine facilities will also be located on Monkey Island between the Calcasieu Ship Channel and the Calcasieu Pass.
The CP2 LNG project is Venture Global's third LNG export project, with the Calcasieu Pass project having commenced operations in March 2022, and the Plaquemines LNG project set to begin its exports in late 2024.
Worley has emphasized that it is pleased to collaborate with Venture Global on one of the most significant LNG projects globally, which is crucial at a sensitive time for energy supply and security for nations. The company has identified LNG as an important growth market and has demonstrated leadership and large-scale execution capabilities in this field.
