Venergy Maritime, led by Vyron Vasileiadis, has ordered two new VLCC tankers in China. This action increases the company's total orders to four vessels and demonstrates Venergy's commitment to expanding its fleet in the oil market.
Details of the New Orders
Venergy Maritime, headquartered in Piraeus, Greece, has exercised options in its October contract for two 306,000 deadweight ton (dwt) tankers. These four tankers are currently scheduled for delivery in 2029. This move brings Venergy's construction program to 26 tankers in various categories including MR2, LR2, Suezmax, and VLCC.
Fleet Expansion and Investments
Vyron Vasileiadis has invested around $2 billion to expand his fleet over the past 16 months. Additionally, Venergy Maritime is currently ordering eight 1900 teu container ships through OceanV Maritime, which is affiliated with the group, at the Huangpu Wenchong shipyard. Including these vessels, the total number of ships under construction for the group reaches 34.
Venergy's relationship with the Hengli shipyard began in June when the company contracted for two Suezmax tankers with options for two more. These two additional vessels were confirmed in September, bringing the total to four Suezmax tankers for the company. With the new commitment for VLCC tankers, Venergy's establishment program at the Hengli shipyard has increased to eight vessels, evenly split between two categories of crude oil carriers.
Furthermore, Venergy Maritime has also registered orders for Suezmax tankers at the Shanghai Waigaoqiao shipyard and Guangzhou Shipyard International, continuing to expand its tanker order book through new contracts in China and South Korea.
