ADES Holding, a Saudi offshore drilling contractor, has obtained a new contract from Pertamina for drilling off the coast of Indonesia. This contract is set for a duration of 406 days and includes an option for an additional 30 days. The total value of this contract amounts to 173.14 million Saudi Riyals (46.17 million USD), which also covers relocation and return costs. However, ADES has not provided details about the field or drilling program that this rig will support under this contract.
Contract Details and Drilling Schedule
The drilling operations are expected to commence around the end of December 2026, after the rig completes its current short-term campaign in Southeast Asia. ADES has stated that this contract will help expand its customer base in Indonesia and provide a platform for further collaborations.
Pertamina's Production Field Development
This new contract comes as Pertamina continues to develop and drill infill wells in its mature production assets off the eastern coast of Kalimantan. Earlier this year, the company initiated additional production in the development of the Sisi Nubi coast and is progressing with the installation of new facilities in the Manpatu field south of Mahakam.
Given recent investments and the expansion of drilling activities, Pertamina appears to be striving to increase its production capacity and address challenges in its mature fields. These efforts could help sustain and enhance oil and gas production in the region and respond to supply and demand in the global oil market.
