Energy management during the cold seasons has become a fundamental challenge, especially in conditions where temperature drops are noticeable across a wide area of the country. The issue of natural gas imbalance and sustainable energy supply for various consumer sectors has once again come to the forefront. In this context, the "Every Home, One Warm Room" campaign has been introduced as an immediate and low-cost solution to curb gas consumption on cold days.

Challenges of Gas Supply in Cold Seasons

The residential and commercial sectors are recognized as the largest consumers of gas fuel during the winter months. At the peak of cold weather, sometimes up to eighty percent of the total sweet gas delivered to the national grid is consumed by this sector. Such increasing consumption not only imposes severe limitations on the gas supply to thermal power plants and major industries but also puts pressure on the stability and sustainability of the national transmission network. Data analysis shows that a significant volume of this consumed gas is wasted due to the faulty structure of buildings and the deterioration of heating facilities.

Structural Impacts and Proposed Solutions

The external shell of a building is recognized as a barrier between external weather conditions and the internal space. Weakness in this layer leads to heat loss and increased gas consumption. Studies show that non-standard doors and windows are one of the main channels of heat loss. Additionally, the deterioration of heating facilities and the lack of appropriate thermal insulation in heating systems are also significant factors in the waste of gas resources.

The "Every Home, One Warm Room" campaign recommends that families focus their heating efforts on a central space instead of distributing heat uniformly across all rooms. By closing the doors of bedrooms and using appropriate coverings, the indoor temperature can be maintained within a comfortable range, thereby reducing the gas demand load. Research indicates that reducing the average home temperature by one degree Celsius can decrease gas consumption by up to six percent.

Implementing this initiative could have a significant impact on gas consumption trends at the national level. Given that there are over twenty-five million household gas subscribers in the country, saving even two cubic meters per day for each subscriber would equate to fifty million cubic meters of gas saved daily. This saved volume could help ensure sustainable energy supply during winter and prevent unwanted outages.
