Mohammad Sadegh Azimi Far, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, announced an 11% increase in compressed natural gas (CNG) consumption in the country following the third gasoline price change. This increase occurred after the implementation of a gradual reform plan for the third gasoline price, changing it to 10,000 tomans within a week.

Details of the Increase in CNG Consumption

Azimi Far stated that the average CNG consumption in the country has increased by approximately 2 million cubic meters per day compared to the first half of Shahrivar and Mordad. This increase in consumption, especially given the significant change in gasoline prices, reflects changes in fuel consumer behavior in response to price reforms.

Impacts on the Fuel Market

The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company emphasized that this increase in CNG consumption and the decrease in gasoline consumption demonstrate the positive impact of the third price on addressing gasoline imbalance and reducing dependence on imports. According to him, these changes in fuel consumption can help improve energy market conditions and reduce pressure on domestic resources.

Future Priorities of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company

Azimi Far also referred to the plan for the free conversion of high-mileage internet-based freight and passenger vehicles to CNG and stated that this plan is among the priorities of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company and is currently underway. This initiative can help increase the use of CNG and reduce gasoline consumption while also contributing to the establishment of suitable infrastructure for sustainable transportation.

Given these developments, it is expected that the level of CNG usage in the country will increase further in the near future, which could lead to improved air quality and reduced environmental pollutants as a result of decreased gasoline consumption.
