Worley Engineering Company has provided Front End Engineering Designs (FEED) for two important infrastructure packages related to the development of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects in the Masela block in Indonesia. This project, managed by Inpex Masela, a subsidiary of the Japanese company Inpex, is recognized as a national strategic project in Indonesia.
Abadi LNG Project and Its Goals
The Abadi LNG project, which falls under Indonesia's Proyek Strategis Nasional program, is expected to contribute to the country's energy security and achieve carbon emission reduction goals by 2060. The project is anticipated to produce approximately 9.5 million tons of LNG annually and, using CCS technology, respond to the region's energy needs while also aiding the country's greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.

Technical Details and International Collaborations
Worley's scope of work includes providing Front End Engineering Designs for two key infrastructure packages in the Masela block, which comprise approximately 150 kilometers of underwater infrastructure, gas export pipelines, and CCS pipelines. These designs have been developed in collaboration with a team of specialists in Indonesia, as well as experts from the underwater technology center in Singapore and teams from Perth and Malaysia. This collaboration has led to the creation of an integrated infrastructure concept that includes underwater facilities, gas export pipelines, and CCS pipelines.

Contract Details and Project Progress
Inpex Masela, holding a 65% stake, is the operator of the Abadi LNG project, with partners including Pertamina (20%) and Petronas (15%). Meanwhile, Shell exited the project in 2023. The Production Sharing Contract (PSC) is valid until November 15, 2055. With a production capacity of approximately 150 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, the Abadi project is expected to produce condensate at a rate of 35,000 barrels per day.
The Abadi LNG project, as one of the major energy projects in Indonesia, will enhance the country's energy security and achieve environmental goals, and is expected to bring significant achievements to the regional energy industry.
