Vallourec has made a remarkable move by signing contracts with Subsea7 and EnEarth for the supply of steel pipes and related carbon storage solutions. These contracts include major and important projects in the energy and environmental sectors in Brazil and Greece.
Details of the Contract with Petrobras in Brazil
Vallourec has signed an important contract with Subsea7 to supply seamless steel pipes and thermal insulation coating for the Sepia 2 project in the pre-salt area of deep waters in Brazil. Under this contract, Vallourec will supply approximately 130 kilometers of steel pipes, which amounts to over 15,000 tons of specialized steel pipes.

The production of these pipes will take place at the Jeceaba plant in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and the related thermal insulation coating will be applied at the Vallourec Coating Solutions facility located in Serra, Espírito Santo. The Sepia 2 project includes 15 wells and a pipeline exporting to a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit at a water depth of approximately 2,170 meters.
Carbon Storage Project in Greece
Following this contract, Vallourec has also been selected by EnEarth, a subsidiary of Energean, to provide a comprehensive package of high-quality piping solutions. This package includes seamless steel pipes and corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) pipes intended for the Prinos carbon storage project in the waters of Greece. This project specifically refers to converting an empty oil reservoir into a permanent CO2 storage site with a target annual injection capacity of up to 2.8 million tons and a total storage capacity of 51.5 million tons.
The Prinos carbon storage project is recognized as one of the first large-scale carbon capture and storage projects in Europe and holds significant importance in the carbon reduction process on the European continent. Nicholas Rigas, Carbon Storage Manager at EnEarth, emphasized the importance of this project and stated that Vallourec's selection as a business partner reflects a commitment to collaborating with reputable companies in ensuring the safe and permanent storage of CO2 for decades to come.
