Vedanta Oil and Gas India has signed an agreement with Exceed, a UK-based well management specialist, for an exploration and evaluation campaign in the Krishna-Godavari basin. This collaboration aims to develop and exploit the hydrocarbon resources available in the region.

Details of the Collaboration Agreement

Exceed will be responsible for providing integrated support for drilling operations in Vedanta's deep sea block KG-DWHP-2017/1. This block includes four existing gas discoveries and several additional exploration prospects. The agreement includes subsurface assessment, well planning, drilling preparation, and operational management. The multi-well drilling campaign is expected to commence in early 2027.

Exploration Prospects and Geophysical Data

This block, located off the eastern coast of India, includes prospects at water depths ranging from 600 to 2000 meters. Vedanta is also evaluating the Vermilion prospect, which the company believes could pave the way for a new exploratory play in the area. The company has previously integrated and reprocessed approximately 3,800 square kilometers of 3D seismic data to provide better subsurface imaging and has also completed a controlled electromagnetic survey in collaboration with Norwegian geophysical specialist EMGS.

Vedanta holds over 4,600 square kilometers of deep sea acreage in the Krishna-Godavari basin and has established an agreement with TechnipFMC for integrated subsea infrastructure. This recent collaboration follows the awarding of two new offshore blocks to Vedanta under the fourth round of the small discovered fields auction in India, including the shallow blocks KG/OSDSF/G1/2025 and the deep blocks KG/DWDSF/GD10/2025.

Vedanta is striving to expand its offshore exploration portfolio as India seeks to accelerate domestic oil and gas development through the Samudra Manthan initiative.
