TS Lines, the Taiwanese shipping operator, has signed a contract to purchase two 11,000 teu container ships worth $246 million with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS). This contract includes a payment of $123 million for each ship, with delivery scheduled for 2030.
Contract Details and Financing
According to TS Lines, the financing for this investment will be carried out through internal resources and bank loans. This new contract adds to TS Lines' new shipbuilding program, which includes larger vessels and smaller ships at various shipyards in China.

In March, the company signed a contract to purchase four 2,900 teu container ships at Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding for $168.6 million. The delivery of these ships is also expected by May 2029. The recent contract follows a previous agreement to purchase two ships at the same yard in November 2025, bringing the total of this series to six ships.
Expansion of TS Lines Fleet
TS Lines is also strengthening its large vessel fleet at Waigaoqiao, where it has previously contracted two dual-fuel methanol 14,000 teu ships and two 7,092 teu ships. The company was established in 2001 and primarily operates in intra-Asia trades. By the end of June, the company's fleet included 47 ships with a total capacity of nearly 140,000 teu, including owned and chartered vessels.
Given the growth of the shipping market and the need for a larger fleet to meet demand, TS Lines is expanding and modernizing its fleet. This program not only reflects TS Lines' growth strategy in the Asian market but will also enhance the company's operational capabilities and increase its competitiveness.
