Importance of Cotton in Afghan Exports
Cotton is considered one of the important export items of Afghanistan. Nooruddin Azizi, the Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Taliban government, announced in the month of Asad this year that 10,000 tons of cotton from Afghanistan had been experimentally exported to Uzbekistan. Recently, Uzbekistan has also committed to purchasing another 100,000 tons of cotton from Afghanistan.
These developments in the cotton export sector reflect the Taliban government's efforts to expand trade relations with neighboring countries and utilize alternative trade routes, especially through Iran. Given the existing economic and political challenges in Afghanistan, the development of exports could accelerate economic improvement and help create new jobs.
