Ramazanali Sangdouini, a member of the Energy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, spoke about the latest actions for managing energy imbalance on the eve of the cold season, stating: By the order of Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Parliament, an energy imbalance task force has been established in the Energy Commission, and this task force is specifically following up on the country's energy supply issues.
Management of Energy Resources and Fuel Reserves
Sangdouini added: Energy is not just gas; a combination of resources and energy carriers must be managed together. One of the main issues in winter is the supply of fuel to power plants, as due to gas limitations, the secondary fuel for power plants must be supplied and stored in advance. He also referred to the storage of about 3.5 billion liters of diesel for power plants last year, stating that this action helped us get through the winter without power outages.

Fuel Reserve Status for Winter
The member of the Energy Commission continued: This issue is also on the agenda this year, and the energy imbalance task force has held several meetings on this matter. In a meeting attended by the ministers of oil and power and their deputies, the latest status of secondary fuel reserves for power plants was reviewed, and it was announced that the conditions of reserves for winter are in a suitable state.
Sangdouini emphasized: A table has also been sent to the ministries of oil and power to specify how to use diesel reserves, the amount of mazut used, and the amount of gas supplied to power plants. This action will help create balance among different fuel resources.
Damage to Gas Facilities and Concerns
This parliament representative further referred to the damages inflicted on the country's gas facilities during the war, stating: During recent attacks, four refineries in the South Pars region were targeted, and about 330 million cubic meters of gas processing capacity was taken offline. Some of this capacity has returned to operation, and efforts to restore the remainder are ongoing.
Sangdouini also raised concerns regarding the northern provinces of the country, including Golestan, Mazandaran, and North Khorasan, which are at the end of the gas transmission network, stating: In the event of pressure drops, the likelihood of issues in gas supply to these areas will increase.
He concluded by saying that saving gas consumption, along with efforts to restore production and processing capacities, should be prioritized to ensure we can get through the winter without gas outages.
