Ramazan Ali Sangdooni, a member of the Energy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, referring to the energy imbalance situation, stated that due to damages incurred to four phases of South Pars, the country will face a gas imbalance. In this regard, the supply of fuel to power plants has been reviewed since the beginning of November, and planning for the storage of approximately 3.2 to 3.4 billion liters of oil and gas in the reservoirs of power plants and the distribution and refining company has been carried out.
Planning for Sustainable Fuel Supply
The timeline for receiving gas, fuel oil, and oil and gas for the months of November to March has been developed with the presence of the Ministers of Oil and Energy and communicated to the President and security agencies to prevent excessive consumption of reserves. Sangdooni emphasized the importance of supplying energy to the northern provinces of the country (Mazandaran and Golestan with about 6.5 million people) and sectors related to food security and industries, stating that industries must have their secondary fuel ready for four months of the year according to contract so that their activities are not halted in case of restrictions on natural gas.

Status of Damaged Facilities and Consumption Management Solutions
He explained the status of the damaged facilities, stating that out of approximately 130 million cubic meters of gas removed from the circuit, nearly 100 million cubic meters have been restored, but full capacity recovery will take time. In emergency conditions and when restrictions on gas supply occur, the use of mazut and alternative fuels in power plants is inevitable, although the government's efforts are focused on maintaining the gas flow to power plants. Additionally, the Ministry of Energy has supplied the electricity needed for industrial units such as steel and petrochemicals from the national grid.
A member of the Energy Commission of the Parliament considered the management of natural gas consumption to be the most accessible solution and noted that reducing the ambient temperature by one degree saves about 25 million cubic meters, and a two-degree reduction saves about 50 million cubic meters, equivalent to the production of one phase of the South Pars refinery. In the field of hydropower generation, it is expected that this year about 60% of the 12,000 megawatt capacity of hydropower dams will come online. Furthermore, the development of renewable energies and solar power plants aimed at reaching a capacity of 12,000 megawatts by the end of the year will play a significant role in reducing gas and oil consumption in power plants and increasing the capacity for exporting petroleum products.
