Petrobras (Petrobras), the Brazilian state energy giant, will achieve $859 million in revenue after finalizing a complex agreement with its partners, Shell, TotalEnergies, and Petrogal. This agreement assists in resolving accounting and production sharing issues in large shared reservoirs in the Santos basin and addresses the financial shares dating back to 2000.
Details of the Petrobras Agreement with Its Partners
Petrobras has signed agreements with Shell, TotalEnergies, and Petrogal, partners in the BM-S-11A consortium, regarding cost and volume balancing for the Berbigão, Sururu reservoirs, and shared assets arising from individual production agreements in the shared reservoirs BVE-ITP/RJS-656 and BVE-ITP/RJS-697 in the Santos basin. Under this agreement, Petrobras will receive a net amount of approximately $859 million from the partner companies of the BM-S-11A consortium, which will be settled by November 2026.

Impact of the Agreement on the Brazilian Oil Industry
The shared reservoirs of Sururu and Berbigão are part of the BM-S-11A consortium, managed by Petrobras (42.5%) with participation from Shell (25%), TotalEnergies (22.5%), and Petrogal (10%). The rights transfer agreement is also managed by Petrobras as the 100% stakeholder. The establishment of the Berbigão and Sururu agreements by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels of Brazil (ANP) has led to the determination of each company's relative interests in the shared reservoirs.
According to Petrobras, this new configuration adjusts production revenues, capital expenditures, operating costs, and oil royalties in proportion to the interests of the parties in the shared reservoirs. The period under review in this agreement includes the execution of the BM-S-11 consortium contract from September 15, 2000, to April 30, 2026, which is the day before the effective date of the Berbigão and Sururu agreements.
Petrobras is also expanding the scope of its global activities, as evidenced by negotiations for exploration contracts in four blocks in the Keta basin of Ghana.
