Mohammad Jafar Ghaemian, the Executive Deputy of the President, emphasized regarding rumors about increasing gasoline prices to 80,000 tomans that currently, changing the prices of gasoline and diesel is not on the government's agenda.
Government's Long-term Plans
Ghaemian stated that reforming energy carrier prices is a long-term issue, and any changes in fuel prices must be considered alongside the situation of wages and pensions of employees and retirees. He added that at present, an immediate increase in gasoline prices is not part of the government's plans, but the review of the energy subsidy distribution method continues as a long-term issue.

Challenges of Fuel Smuggling
The Executive Deputy of the President also referred to the issue of fuel smuggling, stating that one of the issues raised in the Anti-Smuggling Headquarters is the daily smuggling of about 30 million liters of gasoline and diesel. He pointed to the price difference of fuel in Iran and neighboring countries as one of the effective factors in this issue.
Ghaemian emphasized that the discussion about energy prices does not mean a decision to immediately increase prices. He mentioned that there is a long-term idea for reviewing the energy subsidy distribution method so that the subsidies are distributed more fairly among the people. Given recent statements, it is clear that the government currently has no plans to increase gasoline prices, but the issue of subsidy distribution and its relation to fuel prices remains an important topic for the future.
