Details of the Seizure
According to reports, three containers that were sent as electric bicycle parts from China to the port of Ashdod in Israel were seized at Port Tanjung Pelepas. Ibrahim clarified that "any suspicious shipment will be inspected and investigated, and decisive action will be taken if any violations are identified." This decision marks the second time Ibrahim has confirmed the seizure of shipments related to Israel, as another suspicious container had been seized for the same reason in August 2026.

Security Systems and Background of Sanctions
The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency had become suspicious of a shipment being sent to Elbit Systems, an Israeli defense technology company. This shipment was seized on August 7, 2026, and had been transferred from the Philippines to Malaysia. Ibrahim had also emphasized at that time that Malaysia would not allow itself to be used as a trade route for Israel.
Previously, in December 2023, Malaysia had announced a "permanent ban" on Zim, an Israeli shipping company. Under this ban, Zim cannot call at Malaysian ports, and any ship flying the Israeli flag will be prohibited from loading at Malaysian ports. Ibrahim, who is 79 years old and a Muslim, has frequently spoken out against Israel and stated that his country has no diplomatic or commercial relations with Israel.
