The intensification of gas imbalance in the country due to damage to part of the production and processing facilities has heightened the necessity for reforming consumption patterns and utilizing economic tools for energy management. In this situation, savings certificates and the activities of gas service companies can help reduce pressure on the gas network and finance optimization projects.

Challenge of Sustainable Gas Supply in the Cold Season

Sustainable gas supply in the cold season is one of the most significant challenges facing the country's energy system. This challenge has become more serious with the reduction of part of the processing capacity. Increased consumption in the residential and commercial sectors during cold days raises pressure on the gas supply network and limits the ability to supply fuel to power plants and industries.

According to officials, during the damage to the country's gas facilities, approximately 230 million cubic meters per day of gas processing capacity was lost. So far, about 100 million cubic meters of that has returned to the production cycle, while approximately 130 million cubic meters remain inaccessible. This situation ahead of winter has increased the importance of restoring facilities and simultaneously managing gas supply and demand.

Consumption Management and Energy Optimization

Gas imbalance is not merely a shortage of an energy carrier; its consequences extend to various sectors of the energy economy. On days when residential and commercial consumption increases, the supply of gas to power plants faces more limitations, and part of their needs must be compensated through liquid fuel; this can increase electricity production costs and air pollution.

Consumption management in the building sector is essential as a fundamental measure to reduce household costs and preserve a larger share of natural gas for power plants and production units. In this regard, savings certificates and the ability to trade them in the energy market can turn savings into an economic and investable activity.

Gas service companies can play a specialized intermediary role between consumers, investors, and the energy market. These companies identify consumption reduction capacities and implement equipment reform projects, facilitating the realization of savings. Investors can finance optimization projects and recover the implementation costs from the economic value of the freed energy.
