Halliburton, the energy services giant based in Houston, has secured a well construction and completion contract from Eni for the ultra-deep development project Cronos off the coast of Cyprus.
Contract Details
Under this contract, Halliburton will provide integrated drilling, well construction, automation, and completion services for exploratory and development wells. This joint scope will reduce operational interactions, enhance execution reliability, and support efficient delivery for a multi-year ultra-deep development project.
Services Provided by Halliburton
The company announced that the scope of services includes drilling fluids, directional drilling, LOGIX automation and remote operations, cementing, surface well testing, and tubing. Halliburton will leverage its regional infrastructure and capabilities in Cyprus to support these efforts.
Related Contracts
Last week, Eni awarded a subsea contract worth between $500 million and $750 million to McDermott for work on the same project. This Houston-based contractor will provide project management, engineering, procurement, and installation support. Both contracts were signed following the final investment decision for Cronos in late July.
Future of the Cronos Project
The Cronos project holds over 3 trillion cubic feet of gas in place and will be developed with four subsea production wells. The aim is to start gas production in 2028, with expected production reaching about 500 million standard cubic feet per day, equivalent to approximately 2.8 million tons per year of liquefied natural gas. This project will connect to existing infrastructure at the maritime border with Egypt.
