Gas consumption management in Lorestan has entered a new phase. In this phase, the provision of heating for households, maintaining the operation of production and service units, and preventing disruption in the agricultural sector must be pursued simultaneously. The fifth meeting of the energy consumption management working group was held to examine measures to counter potential gas imbalances, and a series of decisions regarding consumption management, alternative fuel supply, and oversight of heating facilities were approved.
Priority on Domestic Gas Supply
Among the resolutions of this meeting, prioritizing the supply of gas to the domestic sector in case of restrictions in the network was emphasized. The head of the Civil Engineering Department of Lorestan Governorate, Ehsan Kermzadeh, reported on the members' emphasis on preventing gas cuts to households as much as possible. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining the stability of gas supply to the domestic sector and managing potential restrictions in the industrial sector.

Alternative Fuel Supply and Storage
The working group also emphasized the storage and supply of kerosene, diesel, and fuel oil for these sectors and announced that the National Oil Products Distribution Company has been tasked with coordinating the necessary arrangements for fuel supply. Currently, the Lorestan Agricultural Jihad Organization, in collaboration with the gas company, must conduct joint visits to greenhouses and poultry farms to assess energy consumption, the status of heating equipment, and the actual fuel needs of these units.
A team consisting of representatives from the governorate, gas company, Standard Organization, Industry, Mine and Trade Organization, and Agricultural Jihad has been formed to follow up on this issue. Alongside the provision of alternative fuels, the dual-fuel conversion of heaters has also been one of the other focal points emphasized by the working group. Kermzadeh noted that Lorestan's situation in this regard has been assessed as favorable compared to the national average and announced the decision to continue this plan.
Future Challenges and Predictions
The issue of gas consumption management in Lorestan had been raised even before this meeting. In September of this year, the CEO of the gas company warned about the possibility of increased pressure on the gas supply network during the cold season and emphasized the necessity of providing a second fuel for industries, agricultural units, and other major consumers. The dimensions of the issue at the national level also indicate that concerns about potential imbalances are not limited to provincial forecasts.
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company announced on November 1st that the gas imbalance during peak consumption is approximately 400 million cubic meters per day. According to him, out of a total of 230 million cubic meters of production capacity lost due to damage to four refinery facilities, about 100 million cubic meters have returned to the production cycle, while 130 million cubic meters of this capacity remains unavailable. Lorestan's new program can also be examined in this context; this program emphasizes maintaining gas supply to households while also attempting to manage consumption pressure through the provision of second fuel, dual-fuel conversion of heaters, distribution of high-efficiency equipment, and oversight of boiler rooms.
