The Deputy Minister of Oil and CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company, speaking on the "Morning Coin" program, referred to the increasing gas imbalance in the country and the necessity of managing consumption during the cold season, stating that a one-degree reduction in ambient temperature during peak consumption could help stabilize the country's gas network by saving approximately 25 million cubic meters daily.

Impact of War on Gas Supply

Tokali further noted the damage to four South Pars refineries during the war and its effect on the country's gas supply, stating that these damages, along with the chronic imbalance from previous years, have made energy supply during the cold season more challenging. During peak consumption, the capacity to supply gas significantly decreases.

Gas Consumption Management in Residential and Commercial Sectors

He emphasized the important role of the residential and commercial sectors in managing gas consumption, adding that as the weather gets colder, gas consumption in these two sectors increases. Therefore, managing consumption in these sectors can effectively contribute to maintaining the stability of the country's gas network.

The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company also announced the launch of the "20" campaign for gas consumption management and urged the public to participate in reducing energy consumption by taking simple actions, including setting the ambient temperature between 18 to 21 degrees, using thick curtains, sealing windows, closing air conditioning vents, and setting the temperature of the burner or package between 55 to 60 degrees Celsius.

Tokali further clarified that during peak consumption days, a one-degree reduction in ambient temperature could save about 25 million cubic meters of gas, equivalent to the production capacity of one phase of South Pars.

He also referred to the extensive gas transmission and distribution network in the country and the heavy costs of infrastructure development, stating that the length of gas transmission and distribution lines in the country is nearly 12 times the circumference of the Earth. This vastness underscores the necessity for consumption management and optimal utilization of the network.

In conclusion, Tokali emphasized the necessity of consumption management, optimizing equipment, and implementing a comprehensive national energy program to ensure sustainable energy supply and reduce economic and environmental costs.
