Shastan Commercial Investment Group announced the completion of the bypass line between the South Pars refineries and Bushehr Petrochemical within three months. This project, with a daily transfer capacity of about 10 million cubic meters of gas, is designed to reduce the gas imbalance in the country and increase the production capacity of gas condensates and gasoline.

Project Implementation Details

Afshar Baziyar, CEO of Shastan Group, explained that the communication line between the third and fourth South Pars refineries and the Bushehr Petrochemical unit has been implemented to optimize the use of existing capacities. He also emphasized that Bushehr Petrochemical, as one of Shastan's subsidiaries, has carried out this project in collaboration with the National Gas Company, the National Oil Company, and the National Petrochemical Industries Company.

Importance of the Project for the Gas Industry

The necessary equipment for this project was supplied by domestic specialists at Bushehr Petrochemical, and its construction was completed within three months. With the completion of this line, about 10 million cubic meters of gas will enter the gas sweetening unit of Bushehr Petrochemical daily. Part of this gas will be returned to the third refinery after the sweetening process, while the other part will be transferred to the ethane recovery unit of Bushehr Petrochemical.

Baziyar further added that the amount of gas related to this project is equivalent to the consumption of about three large urea production units, and one of the main objectives of implementing the bypass line is to optimize gas production and transfer capacity and help reduce energy imbalance.

The CEO of Shastan also stated that the operation of this line could enable the receipt of more gas from the South Pars platforms and prevent the pressure drop in gas wells due to operational limitations. Thus, the project is significant not only for increasing gas transfer capacity but also for preserving the production capacity of the South Pars gas field.

Results and Impacts of the Project

Another result of this project is the increase in the production of gas condensates. The constructed line is located after the condensate separation unit, and its operation by Bushehr Petrochemical facilitates an increase in the volume of produced gas condensates. According to Afshar Baziyar's estimates, the increase in condensate production resulting from this project could enhance the country's gasoline production capacity by about one million liters per day.

In total, the daily transfer of about 10 million cubic meters of gas, preventing the pressure drop in South Pars gas wells, and increasing the production capacity of gas condensates and gasoline are among the most important achievements of the Bushehr Petrochemical bypass line.
