Azizi, a member of the Energy Commission of the Parliament, discussed the reasons for the gas imbalance in the country and emphasized the importance of optimal consumption management. He stated: "The main reasons for the gas imbalance in the country are household consumption being 2.5 times higher than the global average, as well as the low efficiency and non-standard nature of gas-consuming equipment and industries. Currently, the priority for gas supply is with the household sector."

Dependency of Electricity Production on Gas

Azizi added: "Given that 70 to 80 percent of the country's electricity production depends on gas and fossil fuels, and the low efficiency of power plants, non-compliance with the consumption pattern by the public could lead to shortages during the cold season." This point becomes especially important in the cold seasons when gas demand peaks. In this regard, he emphasized the need to pay attention to the consumption pattern and precise management of resources.

Management and Optimal Consumption as the Main Solution

Azizi continued: "Despite having the second-largest gas reserves in the world, the main solution to overcome this crisis is management and optimal consumption." According to him, saving gas consumption can help reduce pressure on the country's gas network and prevent serious crises during the cold season. Meanwhile, many households and industries have yet to pay attention to adhering to the correct consumption pattern.

In the current situation, it seems essential to have precise and strategic planning for managing the country's gas resources. This issue becomes even more important considering the forecasts regarding rising temperatures and increased gas needs during the cold season. Therefore, serious measures must be taken to increase efficiency and reduce gas wastage across all sectors.
