Azimi, the Deputy of SATBA, analyzed the status of renewable power plants and their role in the country's electricity imbalance in an interview. He stated that these power plants alone are not capable of solving the electricity imbalance and can only address part of this problem.
Status of Power Plants in the Country
In this interview, Azimi referred to the categorization of power plants and said: "The majority of installed power plants in the country are thermal power plants. We have gas and steam power plants, and more than 5 percent of the country's power plants are renewable." These statements indicate the country's significant reliance on thermal power plants, which depend on fossil fuels for electricity generation.

Demand Management and Electricity Structure Reform
The Deputy of SATBA emphasized that the main issue that needs attention is the management of supply and demand. He stated: "We must focus on proper consumption and appropriate demand management." According to Azimi, reforming the electricity economic structure is another action that needs to be addressed. He pointed out that this structure has not yet reached a proper outcome and emphasized that fundamental changes must be made.
Azimi also referred to the existing capacities in the steam section of the current gas power plants and said: "There is more than 4 to 5 thousand megawatts of capacity in this section that we can bring combined cycle power plants online without consuming fuel." This indicates a high potential for increasing electricity production through the optimal use of existing resources.
Improving Efficiency and Investing in Infrastructure
Azimi also mentioned the discussion of upgrading existing power plants and increasing electricity efficiency, considering it an important topic. He stated that appropriate investment is necessary in this sector to easily connect the energy produced by power plants to the electricity grid and distribute it across the country. According to him, investment in the reform of substations and lines in the electricity network is also very important and should receive special attention.
Finally, Azimi emphasized that to solve the challenges of electricity imbalance, a comprehensive view of all aspects is required and the existing capacities must be utilized correctly. He stated that without attention to demand management and reforming the electricity structure, electricity imbalance will remain one of the main challenges of the country.
