Every day, new reports of victims of this war emerge, causing heartache and anguish.
Legacy of War: Generation to Generation
Stories from past generations tell of the hardships endured by our grandmothers and grandfathers in previous wars. For example, the grandmother of one Ukrainian writer was forced to hide at the age of 17 when the Nazis invaded her village, and after escaping forced labor, she spent years trying to return home. This bitter history is now repeating itself.
Today, many Ukrainian women, in memory of their grandmothers, stand with hearts full of love and hope against new challenges. However, amidst this, the shadow of fear and anxiety looms over them at every moment. In the streets of Kyiv, my friends speak of their trembling hands during bombings, an event that has somehow become a hallmark of their daily lives.
War and Humanity
The experiences of war divide a person into two halves: on one side, resistance and steadfastness, and on the other, the wounds left on the heart and soul. Today, Ukrainian women are fighting not only for survival but also to preserve tenderness and love for one another and for themselves. They show that even in the toughest conditions, one can live with love.
In this connection, we are not only witnessing war but also the emergence of human and emotional narratives. Women searching for love and peace amidst fire and smoke will, in a way, represent future generations.
