During the recent war, the Khark oil terminal continued its operations despite 548 attacks, and the average oil exports from this terminal during the 40-day war increased by about 10% compared to the pre-war period.

Performance of Khark Oil Terminal in Wartime Conditions

Abbas Asadrooz, CEO of the Iranian Oil Terminals Company, during a visit to the exhibition of documents and images of the oil industry during the Sacred Defense, explained the company's performance in wartime conditions, stating: The continuity of the production chain to oil and gas exports is the main mission of the Iranian Oil Terminals Company, which includes receiving, storing, and measuring oil until export.

Continuity of Oil Exports Despite Threats

Asadrooz, referring to the strategic position of the Khark oil terminal, said: This terminal, as the largest oil terminal in the country, receives and exports about 93% of the country's crude oil, and its facilities are considered vital infrastructure for the oil industry. He added: Despite 548 impacts on the terminal, employees managed to export 70 million barrels of oil.

The CEO of the Iranian Oil Terminals Company emphasized: One of the main principles of crisis management during this period was to consider oil exports as a strategic component in supporting the country's economy as non-negotiable. The presence of managers on-site and decision-making close to the operational scene enabled a rapid response to changing threats.

Renewal and Improvement of Infrastructure

Asadrooz also announced the allocation of 500 million euros for the implementation of renewal projects in the Iranian Oil Terminals Company. These funds are dedicated to projects related to pipelines, storage tanks, and export docks. Some of these projects are currently in the implementation phase.

Regarding the status of the Khark tanks, he stated: Major repairs on seven to eight tanks with a capacity of 1.5 million barrels are underway, and repairs on the eastern and western docks are also on the agenda. Renewal and major repairs of tanks with various capacities are being pursued.

The CEO of the Iranian Oil Terminals Company concluded by emphasizing that the employees of the oil terminals removed the suspension of exports from their agenda during the difficult wartime conditions and ensured the continuity of oil export flow by continuing operations.
