Turkey's state energy company, Botas, has recently entered the market seeking to charter an LNG tanker for 940 days. This action is intended to strengthen the company's gas transportation capacity, and it appears that Botas is striving to expand its capabilities in the field of liquefied natural gas transportation.
Details of the LNG tanker charter
Botas is looking for a tanker built in 2015 or later with a capacity between 173,600 and 175,000 cubic meters. The charter includes an option to extend or reduce the charter period by up to 60 days. This tender is open to two groups of domestic and international bidders, and proposals must be submitted by October 15.

Technical conditions and tender requirements
As part of this tender, Botas has set several technical thresholds. The vessel must be capable of sailing at a speed of over 19 knots, and its maximum boil-off rate during a fully loaded voyage should not exceed 0.1 percent per day. Additionally, the vessel must be equipped with a complete or partial gas recovery system or sub-cooler. Owners must also provide a recent SIRE 2.0 inspection report.
This tender follows another initiative by Botas in the LNG transportation sector earlier this year. In April, the company issued a request for proposals for the construction of two LNG tankers with a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters and was seeking experienced builders from South Korea.
