Background and Legal Status
The AS Dream ship is recognized in the ILO/IMO abandonment database as an unresolved case related to the complaint of eight seafarers regarding four months of unpaid wages and lack of fuel and supplies. This case began in September 2025 in Ashdod, Israel. While three Indian crew members returned to their country afterward and received their wages, the case remains officially unresolved. In September 2026, the Tanzanian Maritime Administration announced that it is receiving updated status from the International Transport Workers' Federation.
Cypriot authorities have yet to clarify whether any of the 10 rescued crew members were involved in the previous abandonment case. Additionally, the cause of the sinking incident has not yet been disclosed.
