Subsea7 has secured an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract with Aker BP for the fast-track development project of the Lyra fields, previously known as Kjøttkake, off the coast of Norway.

Lyra Project Details

The Lyra project is located in the northern North Sea, approximately 44 kilometers away from the Gjøa platform, and will connect to the NOVA field infrastructure. Subsea7's scope of work includes the development of gas and production pipelines and related subsea infrastructure. The production pipeline will be designed with a pipe-in-pipe configuration, and offshore installation activities will be carried out using vessels from the company's fleet.

Project Timeline and Cost

Project management and engineering activities will swiftly commence at Subsea7's office in Stavanger, Norway, while pipeline construction will take place at the fabrication yard in Vigra, Norway. Offshore operations are scheduled for execution in 2026, 2027, and 2028. Subsea7 has stated that this contract is considered significant, estimated between $150 million and $300 million.

According to Erik Femsteinevik, Vice President of Subsea7 in Norway, "The Lyra project showcases the strength of Aker BP's subsea alliance. This award demonstrates Subsea7's ability to deliver first production with exceptional speed." He also added that this project will bring substantial value to the customer and their partners, as well as to the Norwegian continental platforms.

Production Goals and Timeline

The fast-track development of Lyra aims for first oil production in 2028, three years after the field's discovery. To facilitate this accelerated timeline, Subsea7 received a pre-commitment in December 2025 for the procurement of key long-lead items.
