Germany and the United Arab Emirates continue to strengthen their energy relations by establishing new cooperation in the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and renewable energies. This cooperation has been particularly focused on offshore wind energy projects and sustainable energy supply for Germany's future.

UAE's €40 Billion Investment in Germany

Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the UAE and CEO of ADNOC, announced that the United Arab Emirates intends to invest €40 billion in Germany. This investment reflects long-term trust and a willingness to cooperate in the field of energy security. Al Jaber emphasized that offshore wind energy and LNG will play a significant role in Germany's future energy system and will help enhance industrial competitiveness and sustainable economic growth.

New Agreements for LNG Supply

In parallel with these developments, RWE Supply & Trading and ADNOC signed an agreement to advance negotiations on LNG supply agreements. The two companies are looking to set the terms for up to two LNG sales and purchase agreements, with deliveries to Germany and other European and Asian markets. Dr. Markus Krebber, CEO of RWE, stated that this cooperation could help provide sustainable and affordable energy for Germany. He also referred to the agreement with ADNOC as a step to strengthen energy supply security in Germany and Europe.

The expected LNG deliveries will come from ADNOC Gas's expanding LNG portfolio and various projects in the UAE, the United States, Mozambique, and Argentina. These deliveries are expected to begin in the early 2030s.

The Role of the UAE in Energy Investment in Europe

These agreements highlight the growing role of the UAE as an energy investor in Europe and strengthen broader cooperation between Abu Dhabi and Berlin in renewable energies, gas supply, and energy security. This cooperation not only helps solidify the relations between the two countries but will also contribute to the development of sustainable energy infrastructure in Europe.
