SLB has signed a new contract with Equinor to expand production monitoring capabilities at the Johan Sverdrup oil field, one of the largest offshore oil fields in the world and a strategic asset for Equinor.

Expansion of Monitoring Coverage in Underwater Infrastructure

This contract is designed to expand monitoring coverage in new underwater infrastructure. As offshore production systems become increasingly larger and more interconnected, operators are investing in digital technologies to enhance operational visibility, reliability, and asset integrity in complex underwater networks.

Development of Online Production Management Systems

This contract is based on previous successes in implementing the Olga Online production management system during the second phase of the Johan Sverdrup field development. This system assisted in leak detection and real-time production monitoring in the production network during the second phase. With the expansion of the production network to new infrastructure and multiphase flow lines related to the third phase of development, SLB continues to develop its work in this field.

The Olga system offers a combination of multiphase flow modeling based on first principles and real-time analysis, aiding in early leak detection, virtual flow measurement, and continuous production monitoring in marine environments with technical challenges. The implementation of the system in the third phase will provide Equinor with broader real-time insights into wells, pipelines, and underwater infrastructure.

Enhancing Operational Reliability

This system provides Equinor with information about the size, location, and severity of potential leaks in the production network, helping to enhance operational reliability, support safe operations, and optimize production performance throughout the field's production life. This system is expected to be implemented before the start of production from the new phase 3 facilities, and SLB will support the delivery, commissioning, and long-term operation of this system.
