Skuld, one of the world's leading marine insurers, has announced changes to its organizational structure aimed at enhancing the value provided to members, clients, and brokers. These changes, which will come into effect on November 1, 2026, are designed to improve coordination, strengthen resilience, and support Skuld's long-term strategic goals.

Changes in the Executive Management Team

As part of these changes, Skuld is restructuring its executive management team and simplifying its market organizational structure. This new structure includes larger and more resilient business units that have broader market responsibilities and will help create better opportunities for coordination across regions and product lines.

Christian Löberg will be transitioning from his role as Chief Financial Officer to Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO). At the same time, Skuld has introduced Ovada Bjarketod Nordro as the new Chief Financial Officer.

Global Leadership Roles in Key Areas

Skuld will also establish global leadership roles in its core product areas. Lars Duel will be appointed as Global Head of P&I, Paul Free as Global Head of Hull, and Christopher Cobro as Global Head of Energy, all reporting to the CUO.

The new Skuld group will include the following business units reporting to the CUO:

  • Skuld Nordic, with teams in Oslo, Bergen, and Copenhagen, led by Christopher Kuhman.
  • Skuld Europe, with teams in Oslo, Hamburg, and Piraeus, led by Lars Duel (interim). A permanent leadership position will be promoted soon.
  • Skuld UK and USA, with teams in London and New York, led by Paul Free.
  • Skuld Singapore and Japan, with teams in Singapore and Tokyo, led by Nick March.
  • Skuld Hong Kong, led by Patrick Wang.
  • Skuld Energy, with teams in Oslo, London, and Singapore, led by Christopher Cobro.

As part of Skuld's succession planning and to ensure the continued development of Skuld's position in one of its key markets, the leadership transition in Skuld Hong Kong will take place in September 2027, where Wei Fan will be appointed as the Head of the Hong Kong business unit, replacing Patrick Wang. At that time, Patrick Wang will be appointed as the Chairman of Skuld (Far East).

This new organizational structure is built on the strengths that have contributed to Skuld's development so far and prepares the organization for future opportunities.

Stale Hansen, President and CEO of Skuld, said: “As we approach Skuld's 130th year of operation, this organization has never been stronger than it is now, and it is vital that our organization evolves alongside our continued growth. The changes we are introducing will enhance coordination across regions and products and improve how we leverage our expertise, providing a stronger platform for future growth.

Most importantly, this restructuring will enhance our ability to support members, clients, and brokers through a more integrated and resilient organization.
