Seyed Ismail Hosseini, a member of the Energy Commission of the Parliament, announced to reporters in Shiraz that the fuel reserves of power plants are satisfactory for passing through the winter. He also referred to the existing challenges in the energy sector and the necessity of managing its distribution.

Challenges in the Energy Sector

Hosseini pointed out that the energy sector, which includes oil, gas, and electricity, is one of the strengths of the country, saying: "Unfortunately, in recent years, for various reasons, this sector has become one of the challenges facing the country." According to him, mismanagement and lack of oversight are among the factors creating these challenges.

He emphasized that the country's electricity production capacity has reached nearly 100,000 megawatts, but necessary optimization has not been carried out in the consumption sector, and losses in transmission and distribution have not been sufficiently reduced. Hosseini also referred to the significant increase in electricity consumption during the summer due to the extensive use of cooling equipment, stating that during this season, we often face imbalances and problems.

Fuel Supply in Winter

Regarding the electricity supply situation in winter, Hosseini said: "A major part of the country's electricity production capacity is related to thermal power plants, and the share of nuclear and renewable power plants is less." He pointed out that during the winter, household and commercial gas consumption increases, stating: "This increase in consumption can reduce the ability to deliver gas to thermal power plants."

He also added: "Power plants use liquid fuels such as diesel and fuel oil to compensate for the reduction in gas delivery." Hosseini emphasized that currently, liquid fuel reserves are at a satisfactory level and hopes that the upcoming winter will pass with minimal problems.

Hosseini further referred to the necessity of appropriately distributing energy resources among various sectors, including small and large industries, stating: "Measures must be taken so that people face the least problems and pressures."

He emphasized that in light of the country's wartime conditions, consensus among various governmental agencies and cooperation from the public are essential to overcome the challenge of energy imbalance. This parliament representative concluded by appreciating the performance of the executive bodies in the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Oil and stressed the importance of public cooperation in the optimal consumption of energy.
