Saeed Tavakoli, the CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company, addressed the gas supply conditions in the country in a statement, announcing that this year we are facing a 400 million cubic meter gas imbalance during peak consumption. This imbalance has occurred due to a reduction in gas supply capacity, especially following the attack on the facilities of four refineries on March 17.
Reduction in Capacity and Gas Imbalance
Tavakoli explained that this year there is a reduction of about 130 million cubic meters in capacity compared to previous years, while in past years, the gas imbalance during peak consumption reached about 250 to 300 million cubic meters. Therefore, overall, this year's conditions during peak consumption indicate a 400 million cubic meter imbalance.

Strategies for Managing Consumption
He referred to strategies for managing gas consumption, stating: "To manage consumption, simple methods can be used such as using thick curtains, sealing windows, and setting the home temperature between 18 to 21 degrees Celsius." Tavakoli also mentioned the "20" campaign, which aims to encourage people to keep their home temperature at 20 degrees. According to him, for every degree reduction in temperature, approximately 25 million cubic meters of gas is saved.
He also highlighted the importance of closing air conditioning vents during the cold season and setting the temperature of heating systems between 55 to 60 degrees Celsius, adding that adhering to the infrastructural requirements of buildings also plays a significant role in managing consumption.
Development of the Gas Distribution Network
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company pointed out the development of the gas distribution network in the country, stating that the length of gas transmission and distribution lines in the country is 11.5 times the circumference of the Earth. Tavakoli emphasized: "The country's energy basket must be diverse, and more importantly, the infrastructures and systems must be at a standard efficiency level."
He concluded by mentioning the impact of increased gas consumption in the residential sector on other sectors, stating that increased consumption in this sector could naturally lead to the use of liquid fuel in power plants, which may result in environmental pollution.
