Seyyed Ahmad Hosseini, an associate professor at the university and a member of the Expert Council on National Planning, referred in a note to the critical situation in the country's water, energy, and fuel sectors, emphasizing the necessity of resource management and public cooperation.

Decrease in gas production and the need for conservation

According to information received from officials and experts at the gas company, following the military attack by the United States on the South Pars region, the country's gas production has faced a reduction of 250 million cubic meters. Hosseini noted that efforts by specialists have resulted in the return of 100 million cubic meters of this reduction to the production line, stating that compensating for the remaining shortfall will require more time.

He also emphasized that expert estimates indicate that to meet the country's needs in the difficult conditions ahead, approximately 400 million cubic meters of additional gas is required compared to current production, so that residential, industrial, power plants, and petrochemical sectors do not face shortages. Hosseini stated that gas imports have also failed to compensate for this shortfall and pointed to serious challenges in supplying gasoline and diesel.

Water and energy challenges

In other areas, the country is facing numerous problems. Severe reductions in rainfall and the depletion of underground water resources are among these challenges. Hosseini noted that the shortage of gas and water has a direct impact on the production of thermal and hydroelectric power plants, and damage to some electricity distribution facilities during the conflicts has exacerbated this imbalance.

He emphasized the resilience and patience of the Iranian people in the face of conspiracies and new imposed wars, stressing the necessity of forming a "conservation movement" in the consumption of water and energy by the public. Hosseini also urged officials to spare no effort in addressing problems and meeting public needs with complete prudence so that the country can peacefully navigate through this sensitive situation.
