Jafar Ghaem Panah, the Executive Vice President, announced on September 15th after visiting the Anti-Smuggling Headquarters that 30 million liters of smuggled fuel are being monitored in the country. He emphasized that fundamental and basic actions are being taken to manage the entry of goods and combat smuggling, and these actions are being carried out under difficult economic conditions and considering the shortage of currency and some essential goods.
Monitoring Goods and Fuel in Management Dashboards
During this visit, Ghaem Panah presented management dashboards that continuously monitor essential goods and items that may cause issues for the public. These systems provide the ability to track the processes of goods entering and exiting and can identify violations and smuggling. He pointed out that the issue of fuel is also well tracked in these systems, and accurate information regarding fuel smuggling and its routes is available.
Necessity of Price Reform and Alignment with Incomes
The Executive Vice President also referred to the necessity of reforming energy carrier prices and added: "If prices become realistic, wages and salaries must also be adjusted accordingly." He emphasized that prices cannot be raised to the level of other countries while keeping employee salaries at a low level. Ghaem Panah also pointed to the price difference of fuel in Iran and neighboring countries and said: "When there is a price difference, it is natural for fuel smuggling to occur."
He also discussed the cooperation of executive agencies with the Central Headquarters for Combating Smuggling of Goods and Currency and called for the completion of information to facilitate decision-making for the country's managers. Ghaem Panah emphasized that governance should be based on accurate data and credible information and urged all agencies to assist in this goal.
