The new Yingkou Huayin Shipbuilding factory in Liaoning Province, China has officially been inaugurated. This factory, as the latest entry into China's growing shipbuilding industry, has initiated a program to build 10 multi-purpose vessels with a capacity of 8,700 tons.
Growth Trend of China's Shipbuilding Industry
This development comes in the wake of a wave of new factory openings, capacity expansions, and the revival of previously inactive shipbuilding facilities in China this year. In May, the Wuhu Shipyard officially launched its new production base in Nantong, utilizing the facilities of the former Rongsheng Heavy Industries complex. In August, the Hantong Group launched the new Hantong Changyang facilities in Nantong and began constructing high-value vessels including dual-fuel container ships of 22,000 TEU and VLCCs. Additionally, China Merchants resumed shipbuilding at the Qingshan Shipyard in Wuhan after an eight-year hiatus.
