Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Mokhtari, the temporary Friday prayer leader of Birjand, addressed the country's economic problems in this week's Friday sermon and emphasized the need for the people's resilience against enemy pressures. He pointed out the necessity of compassion and fairness in difficult economic conditions and analyzed the causes of livelihood issues.
Causes of Economic Problems
Mokhtari stated that economic problems stem from external pressures, the inappropriate behavior of some individuals, and also from poor policymaking and management, saying: "Part of these problems is due to foreign sanctions, and another part relates to mismanagement and incorrect internal decisions." He reminded officials that the people's expectation from the government in these tough circumstances is serious planning and oversight.

Fuel Lines and People's Waiting
The temporary Friday prayer leader of Birjand also referred to the situation of fuel stations in South Khorasan and expressed regret over the long lines and delays faced by people at these stations. He called for clarification on the reasons for these lines and said: "If part of the problem is related to fuel smuggling, there should be a distinction made between offenders and ordinary citizens using monitoring systems and tools."
Mokhtari emphasized that people should not have to wait for hours in line and urged officials to take swift action to resolve this situation. He also announced that he would follow up on this issue from the Friday prayer pulpit.
Response to Cultural Warfare
Furthermore, Mokhtari referred to contemporary cultural and social movements and said: "The enemy seeks to influence the cultural identity of society by changing the beliefs and lifestyles of the new generation, which is why strengthening cultural foundations has become increasingly important." He regarded the family and educational system as the most important platforms for transferring cultural and religious values to the new generation and emphasized the need to pay attention to this area in cultural programs.
In conclusion, Mokhtari highlighted the importance of Islamic culture and its educational models, stating: "The Iranian nation defended the territorial integrity of the country during the eight years of sacred defense despite numerous limitations, and this resilience is rooted in Islamic culture and the spirit of resistance."
