Ali Asghar Rajabi, the Energy and Carbon Manager of the National Iranian Gas Company, elaborated on the role of gas utilization projects in managing energy imbalance during a press conference. He pointed out the increase in gas consumption during winter and the need to manage this consumption, stating that gas utilization can help optimize usage.
The Role of Gas Utilization in Consumption Management
Rajabi emphasized that energy imbalance particularly occurs in winter when residential and industrial consumption sharply increases. By utilizing gas, part of the consumption can be managed, and the released gas can be allocated to industrial sectors. This action can be effective in reducing energy imbalance.

Two Main Paths for Managing Energy Imbalance
The Energy and Carbon Manager of the National Iranian Gas Company further stated two main paths for managing energy imbalance: the first path involves increasing production at the beginning of the chain, which requires time, investment, and technology. In contrast, the second path is demand management at the end of the chain, which can be quickly realized through projects like gas utilization. Rajabi noted that consumption management can yield results faster than increasing production capacity.
He also mentioned the activities of 87 type two gas utilization companies that are working on optimizing gas consumption, stating that these companies have become active in 29 out of 31 provinces of the country and have signed 108 contracts for their projects. Among these companies, 33 have reached the contract signing stage and have presented their plans to reduce one billion cubic meters of gas.
Consumption Management Programs and Issuance of Savings Certificates
Rajabi also referred to these companies' plans for managing consumption in various sectors, including residential, power generation, and industrial. According to the presented plans, about 2 million and 365 thousand subscribers will be covered by these projects and can benefit from them. He emphasized that the timing of achieving savings in gas network management is very important, and reducing consumption during peak periods can help improve the gas network's status.
Ali Asghar Rajabi concluded by referring to the capacity for issuing savings certificates in the year 1405, stating that for the first time in the Ministry of Oil's program, a specific capacity for issuing savings certificates has been considered. This capacity can reach about 10 million cubic meters per day, especially during peak consumption months.
