Energy Drilling has signed a new contract with Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Company (CPOC) for a 30-month offshore drilling campaign. This contract, valued at approximately $87 million, includes relocation costs for the T-16 drilling rig, which was built in 2013, in Malaysia.

Contract Details and Forecasts

According to recent estimates by Energy Drilling, the current campaign is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027, with phase 7 starting in early the third quarter of 2027. After the completion of the current campaign, the drilling rig will be moved to Singapore, where it will be maintained with reduced staffing and operational costs to prepare for the new campaign.

Impact of the Contract on the Offshore Drilling Market

Kurt M. Waldeland, CEO of Energy Holdings, has pointed to the positive impact of this contract on the offshore drilling market in Southeast Asia, stating that this contract reflects strong demand for drilling services in the region and Energy Drilling's ability to secure long-term work with prominent clients. By securing reliable employment for the T-16 rig until 2030, the company has significantly increased its workload and strengthened its long-term revenue-generating capabilities.

Luke Plouzenek, CEO of Energy Drilling, also emphasized the importance of this contract, viewing it as a sign of CPOC's confidence in Energy Drilling's operational capabilities. The T-16 rig has consistently demonstrated strong operational performance in oil fields, achieving high levels of reliability, efficiency, and safety.

The T-16 rig, built by COSCO Nantong in China, is specifically designed for developmental offshore drilling on fixed well platforms. This rig is capable of operating in depths of up to 6,000 feet of water and can drill to depths of 20,000 feet.
