The Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad, in a meeting to review the status of fertilizer distribution in the country, referred to the existing challenges regarding fertilizer smuggling. He emphasized that to combat the exit of fertilizer from the official distribution network, there is a need to reform the policies related to the supply and distribution of this product.
Existing Challenges in the Fertilizer Distribution System
The Deputy Minister of Agricultural Jihad stated that structural problems in the fertilizer distribution system, including a lack of transparency in the distribution process and insufficient oversight, have led to fertilizer smuggling. These problems are particularly evident in the border areas of the country, and according to him, this can have serious repercussions for agriculture and food security in the country.
Need for Supply Policy Reform
He also stated that mere inspection and ad-hoc measures cannot solve the smuggling problem alone. Therefore, reforming the policies related to the supply and distribution of fertilizer must be prioritized by the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad. The Deputy Minister called for greater cooperation between various government and private institutions to effectively address this issue.
This official also pointed to the need for cultural awareness among farmers and distributors, saying that their understanding of the importance of proper fertilizer use and the consequences of its smuggling must be increased. Ultimately, he emphasized that only through a comprehensive and multi-faceted approach can satisfactory results be achieved in the fight against fertilizer smuggling.
